Ole Maiava
Currently Pasifika Festival director for Auckland City Council, is also an independent film maker, actor, broadcaster, musician, published poet and short story writer.
He is also an exhibited visual artist and sculptor. He has worked as HOD of Maori Performing arts at the Te Wananga o Aotearoa's Porirua campus. He has presented papers at various conferences around the world dealing in Pacific Arts, education and events. He has collected a national award for television as well as having a top ten hit on the NZ music charts in the eighties. He has been active in the arts for the last 30 years.
An original member of the NZQA advisory board on electronic media, Maiava has also been involved in the DSIR Pasifika scholarships panels and is one of the original co-coordinators of the Achievers magazines. Maiava is also an active participant in the arts and ran one of the first broadcast news gathering courses in NZ.
