Greetings from Artist Shigeyuki Kihara

Greetings from Artist Shigeyuki Kihara

I was in New Plymouth in New Zealand 2 days ago performing the 'Taualuga; the last dance' held at the Govett Brewster Art Gallery in association with the 'Dateline Return' group exhibition curated by Rhana Davenport and Melanie Oliver.

This is the first time the 'Taualuga' was performed in New Zealand!.

The performance was successfull and well recieved. I would like to thank the managment and the staff of the Govett Brewster Art Gallery for their support they have shown towards hosting the live performance of the 'Taualuga; the last dance'.

I am here to kindly inform you on the progress made in my current art practise:

Shigeyuki Kihara appears on 'Talk Talk' TV Arts program, New Zealand

I will be conducting a live studio interview to discuss my art practise with presenter Finlay Mcdonald on 3rd June 2008 for the up coming series of 'Talk Talk' with Television New Zealand.

'Filled with conversation and music, the show has a determination to probe the private lives and public attitudes of those New Zealanders lucky and gifted enough to earn a living from their creativity.

Fronted by former Listener editor, broadcaster and award-winning Sunday Star-Times columnist, Finlay Macdonald, the focus of the interviews will be more on the artists talking about their lives and less on asking them to dissect their art.

Featured guests will be drawn from the wide world of the New Zealand arts - music, writing, acting, fashion, photography, painting, dance, architecture and everything in-between.

The Talk Talk set is an art work in itself, where an art deco-style room has been constructed - complete with bar and chandelier - within TVNZ's biggest studio.'

(Taken from press release)

Past guests of the programe include: Artist Dick Frizzell, Musician Moana Maniapoto and Poet Tusiata Avia.

I will keep you posted to when it will be screened in New Zealand.
