Kevan Hall: Fashion week

Kevan Hall, fashion designer to stars such as Vanessa Williams, Sharon Stone, Katherine Heigl, Felicity Huffman, Ruby Dee, Debra Messing, Angela Bassett, Salma Hayek and Charlize Theron, will close out the week of activities during the Islands of the World Fashion Week in November with the presentation of his latest collection of stunning garments on the catwalk of the Closing Reception at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island.

kevin.pngMr. Hall distinguished himself in the fashion industry from a young age, having studied fashion design at Cass Technical High School in Detroit and then at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in California where he received the Peacock Award for "Outstanding Fashion Design". Mr. Hall's career path then took him to the hallowed house of Halston where he became the Design and Creative Director, reviving the brand to its former glory.

In 2002 Kevan Hall launched his own signature Kevan Hall Collection which emphasized "purity of style, incomparable tailoring and sensuously draped streamlined silhouettes". His designs capture elegance in simplicity. In 2002, he was the recipient of the 47th Gold Coast "Designer of the Year" Fashion Award in Chicago, and in 2005 the Stylemaker of the Year Award by Life & Style Magazine. Mr. Hall has made guest appearances on many national television shows within the United States of America, including Inside Edition, Extreme Makeover, SoapTalk, and E! Fashion Police.

Kevan Hall will join such international guest designers as Peter Ingwersen of Noir Illuminati II from Denmark and Nick Verreos of Nikolaki from the United States in the presentation of their creations on the catwalks of the premiere of Islands of the World Fashion Week, during the period 5th - 8th November, 2008. The Opening and Closing receptions will take place at the Atlantis Resort, Paradise Island and the daily catwalk shows will occur at the historic British Colonial Hilton in downtown Nassau. In addition to the international guest designers, approximately 30 garment and accessories designers from 11 island states around the world will also present their unique styles to the international media, fashion editors and trade publications, merchandise buyers, agents, and local and international fashionistas.

The event, organized by Mode Îles, Ltd., an arm of The Montaque Group, will provide an annual showcase for designers either originating from or based in islands around the world.  Islands of the World Fashion Week will highlight the themes of cultural diversity and dialogue, and will draw attention to the global issues of the environment and climate change, the education of youth on HIV/AIDS, and poverty alleviation, particularly as they impact small island states. The event is endorsed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organization (UNESCO) based in Paris.
