We are a two year-old non profit association which promote contemporary arts from South Pacific. In a first time we have worked to promote an artist from Raiatea; today he lives and works in Bora Bora, his name is Paskua you can also visit this website to learn more about him: http://www.paskua.net. Two years ago, Paskua was totally unknown. Moreover, we have organized exhibitions in Tahiti's galleries and won for him a selection for the Lyon Biennal 2007 in France. Antigallery of Pompidou, Beaubourg Center (Contemporary and modern arts museum in Paris) have presented his works in 2007, and we have organized an exhibition in Reial Cercle Artistic of Barcelona in Spain. He received a great art critic in Catalogna by Arnau Puig, who wrote about Pascua's work in an art magazine "Paskua, Expressionism became cult!" Latter, five pieces have been bought by three museums in Salvador Dali Museum located in Spain and Europa Museum in Europe. Paskua was the first Polynesian artist to have his works displayed in European museum collections as he is still alive. We have presented our artists team in New York Expo 2008 and Paskua has found an art dealer and a gallery in New York. Now, we are working to create an alternative space, The Black Block Kube, directly on the lagoon of Bora Bora. Open night at the end of October. It may be the first step for a future Bora Bora Museum. We will present Lili oop and Teia, two maohi artists and a young painter who lives in Tahiti, Jonathan Bougard. In collaboration with Riccardo Pineri, professor of aesthetic and philosophy at the University of Pacific and Montpellier University, we are trying to explain the possible contribution of Pacific arts at the world contemporary arts by the "presence", in opposition at the "representation". This "presence" which we find in traditional pacific arts such as Mana and now, in Teia and Paskua's works in Tahiti, John Pule in New Zealand... We hope to take a great meeting between these artists in a future project Find us here |
